24' party barge rebuild

#1 Post by bmhayes » Sun Jun 02, 2013 6:08 pm

Picked this boat up last week. Really just bought it for the trailer and the motor to go with other boats we have but after I got it home and took it out on the lake 1 time I have decided to redo this one and finally have a nice boat for me and the wife. Here are some pics of my progress so far. The guy I bought it from was going to restore it but due to a family medical situation he didn't have time. So the toons had already been cleaned when I got it. Can the toons be polished at this point? I am buying a flooring kit to redo the floor but I don't want to buy a whole other sheet for the 2 spots on the front of each toon. Any suggestions for these areas? I am sure I will have many more questions as I go.

One more question whil I'm thinking about it. What is the best way to paint the sides?

On the front of the toons try aluminum diamond plates. It will look Kool and non skid. Also now is the time to polish the toons it will be easier without the deck.

I saw a Craigslist ad for the same model a month ago around here. I called about it and it had already sold. :x

Did I see something about a 10% off code for pontoonstuff.com on here somewhere? If so can someone please tell me what it is? Thanks.

A quick updated. I oredered the complete flooring kit from pontoonstuff.com. every thing except the wood came last friday and long story short they aren't sure what happended to it. They say fedex lost it but fedex says they never had it. Anyway ps reshipped me some more wood today and it should be here next week. They did say they would give me a free ladder with my next order but I'm a little frustrated bc I am missing 2 weekends that I could have been working on it. I have however worked on a few other projects though. I bought a fiberglass console and some railings at a yardsale. I don't need the railings but figured I could find a use for them. I also decided that I want to have a "deck" on the front of the boat so I installed that. Its composite deck boars. I cut, painted, and used trim from the auto parts store for the inserts.
