Just bought this boat for $2000. It needs nothing to be water worthy. Just not to my liking on the motor nor the interior. The wood on the deck is only 2 yrs old, Have the receipts to show it as well as the motor was just serviced 3 months ago. carbs went through and new starter installed. It has a minor prop strike and a small chunk it missing but thats an easy fix. will probably get it redone as well as get a spare. Will be looking for a higher HP 4 stroke Motor as well. but first the interior has to go. I have seen any helms online that I like but living in Fl there are plenty of places to go and look for a good used one if I have to. as for the furniture, probably just go with pontoonstuff.com or some place like that....The wife says she can hear the vacuum cleaner starting already for my wallet...

Nice! :thumbsup I like the sleek look of those toons. Looks like a great project boat.
What year is the motor?

Not sure yet on the yr of the motor. I just bought it and put it in the back yard. I drive an 18 wheeler so I wont get to mess with it till I get back home on the 4th of July weekend. I did hear it run though. I am thinking of looking around for 4 stroke motor about 100 to 125 hp. I have 2 step kids and they would love to be on a pull behind tube of some sort I'm sure

Got another noob toon question. Since I have never owned a toon before are these little golf cart looking tires rated for highway speeds? they just do look like they will hold up...

Keep the proper air pressure and they will be fine

Seeing how you have a single axle trailer means it's a 20 footer at the most, no way you can put a that big of engine on it and remember a four stoke weights a 100 or more pounds than the same HP in 2 stroke

ok getting ready to start cleaning to toons. what is the easiest to use. I want to get all the grime off. I have a pressure washer but looking for a cleaner like an acid or something since I know these toons have never been cleaned. Just knowing the previous owner

ok so I pulled the cover off the motor and its only a 40hp, not a fifty. :(

the guy I bought it from, for some dumbass reason put the trailer lights on the boat? what was he thinking

this is the only real damage to the fence. guess I will replace both of the front sheet metal to get rid of all the holes drilled or ripped into it

Image Image

also going to need to replace a couple of the corners

got it up to 18mph with the admiral, the dog, and I aboard

let the cleaning begin

I have a question though, while underway at WOT it does very well. But if I walk to the front of the boat is sound like the motor reves increase and there is alot more white foamy water coming from the prop. could this be that the motor sets to high causeing the top of the prop to break the surface of the water? and wound it help since I know this is not the original motor to have a frame welded up to mount the transom 2 inches lower. like maybe a 2x2 inch square tubing made into some kinda triangle and bolted between the deck and the transom?

what on the transom exactly determines the HP rating. I want to put a bigger motor on my boat but can find nowhere on the boat what the hp rating is and the motor that's on it is not the original... If I could have a way to judge a certain part to be a specific thickness etc... I have had the boat in the water and I stood on the boat straddling the motor which added 230 pounds to that area and the boat only dropped about a in deeper in the water. that tells me I can afford the weight but I don't want to over stress the transom. or can I just get another transom from a different pontoon???
