Garnet. Make sure if you bottom paint DO NOT use paint containing copper. Ask Ron about that episode, lol. :paranoid

Brass, copper, anything BUT aluminum, stainless or plastic plugs will contribute to severe corrosion.

Well, finally got to drain the logs. Starboard side no water. Port side had a little in the cone but the middle section took a few hours through the 1/8" hole I drilled. Got all plastic plugs too. Marine TeX and ss pan head screws complete the frankentoon look today. We'll be on the water this weekend!

All the corrosion has been sand blasted. Ready for acetone and marine tex gray. Sorry to be slack on the pics.

Now time to clean and apply marine tex. I tried to get all the angles I could with the spot blaster. Man, I love that thing...takes barnicles, old paint and corrosioon off like nothing.

+1! My face didn't even look that bad when I was a teen :lol3
Hopefully you can solve the original problem that created this mess in the first place.
Good luck to ya. The MarineTex is great stuff.

I am not a metalurgist like BMR but can you fill the pits with lead solder and sand it before painting? I do not know if the solder will stick with the aluminum but someone else will chine in.

I went with marine_tex because I can get back on the water before further sealing with interlux 2000e and a few coats of trilux 33.
