Well this starts with my girlfriends stoke last Christmas Day. She is ok now, well more or less. But she can't get into the ol row boat to go fishing or just float about. We have a place on Atwood Lake in Wolcottville IN. It's a small lake, but the fishing is good and the people friendly. Some friends of ours have a toon and invited us out for the afternoon. Cindy really enjoyed it! So I got an idea, get one of our own.
Now my dad had a 16' Sylvan he bought back in 1971-72 I think. Steel tubes, old style cable steering. Some time in the late 80s early 90s I got him some new tubes and we rebuild her. So this won't be my first time. But this time will be a project and a half. Everything has to be replaced. I'll save the tubes and cross members. Rebuild the transom. But unlike dad's I will have to replace everything else. The play pen is going to take all winter to repair and rebuild. Its on life support, but I hope to save it.
I think my biggest obstacle will be the steering. Because I have a 1962 Johnson Super Seahorse 40hp (it has maybe 150 hours on her and has never been outside over night).
So at our campground I found this ol girl. Offered $200 they wanted $300. I said I'd go $250, we had a deal!

Well now that the campground closed for the season. I'll have more time to work on this. Stopped by Pontoonstuff.com a few weeks ago. Picked up some samplies, so someone can start choosing colors. They are only 3 miles or so from home.
