2000 Suncruiser Trinidad 204 Rebuild

#1 Post by TonyTwoToons » Sun Feb 23, 2014 6:06 pm

This is my rebuild. My oldest gaughter was invaluable during the process as was my neighbor's son who helped tear out the carpet. My father-in-law left her out in the Florida sun without her cover most of the time. Structurally she was solid, undented toons, good deck, sound trailer, but everything else had to go.

I usually went out with a wake boarding buddy and he brought the tunes. This spring I'm adding a second battery and the radio. I have to direct the sound on the deck and behind the boat when we're beached. I don't have much room to work with because of the layout. I've got to be creative.

Cheers,

Tony

So, I've got this unsupported seat back. I'm a little concerned that my guests will lean back and end up laying on the deck. I'm thinking a couple pieces of 1" square aluminum tubes bolted to the seat bottom with some backing plates inside the seat base. I plan on putting them as far out on the edge as I can and as high up the seat back as possible to hit the frame of the seat back. Should I be concerned that the base won't be able to support the load? There's not much load to carry but enough to concern me. Maybe I'll put three posts. Anyone got better ideas?

I don't see why what you are suggesting would not work. If having that space open behind the seat is important, then I would think your idea is the best solution. If you do not need that space to remain open, then another suggestion might be to build some kind of storage box for that space (for a cooler, life vests, ropes, fenders, live well, fishing stuff, etc -- all depending on how you use the boat). It could serve as dedicated storage while supporting the back of that seat as well.

Nice job rebuilding, by the way.

Good place to put a large storage box, cooler, or custom designed a ski tow
Counting all the a$$holes in the room Well I'm definitely not alone

We have basically the same layout on our 2003 Trinidad - we have that same fishing seat on top of the fuel area. That seat rarely gets used and I've thought about making a sunpad for that area so it could still be used for storage underneath. You could do the same thing and that would support the bench in front of it as well.
