repaired damaged toon, and tighten steering.

#1 Post by pond tuuunes » Sat Jul 26, 2014 8:47 pm

So last year, I did a form of poker run with 60 or 70 offshore boats. I wound up hitting a large wave, and caving in the center toon, under the engine compartment. Also the steering had alot of play in it, down by the drive. I used a porta-power to press out the toon, then formed a 1/4"x4'x4' aluminum plate, and had it welded below the toon. I also removed the drive mount, and rebuild the steering. here are some pics from today. JT

Oh, did I mention I fell off the roof at work 3 weeks ago, and broke my rt elbow in 2 places, and shredded my rt rotator cuff, so this is a very painful job. JT

They were the first year, but they are pretty much used to it now. ken Gouty lives here, and used to take his 110 mph toon out here. JT

it lives. I don't know if its the plate welded to the bottom of the center toon. or emptying the front tank. At top speed the boat is riding higher out of the water. I didn't have my GPS with me, but top end was definitely faster. I raced a Sunsation go fast, and was pulling away from him on top end. Im happy. JT
