Show me your custom table tops you made for your toon,,,,

#1 Post by grouser » Fri Feb 06, 2015 9:30 pm

I hate the plastic tables on my Hut,,,, I need ideas and inspiration for new ones. I have access to lots of lumber, of any size and would prolly opt for western red cedar as it's light and rot resistant, but open to all materials and ideas,,, thanks !!

My concern is storing the table when not in use so I'm thinking of a flip-up table like this and attaching in from of the console.
UPDATE: I just read that Ikea has this Melamine table for $40. I think I'll drive over and check it out.

My table breaks down and stores nicely under the helm.

I like the wood trim,,,, and am leaning towards the attached drop leaf style table. How dows the table drop down for the bed? Or do you just remove it from the wall first?

Bambi,,, your cushions are nice and flat and I can see why they make a great bed,,, Mine are contoured and the surface is not flat but more like a rolling hills surface for people to lay on,,,,, yikes !!!

On mine the table swings on a arc on hardware that is structurally built into the wall to support it. A person lifts the outside corner enough to remove post and lay it on floor, then grasp tabletop about halfway back allowing the table to follow the curve of the arc and it will swing down and settle into bench boards. Put the cushions back into place to form flat bed and you're good to go. In the morning put the bedding away, reverse the procedure and settle into table and enjoying a freshly brewed cup of Java. Life is good..... :thumbsup

Well, this isn't something I've made, or bought, but I did think about it a few times when we owned our Sea Ray boat......

Saw many Sea Ray owners, rave about the quick, high quality service from this company in the UK. They have many sizes, shapes, etc. Kind of pricey.

I too am not thrilled with the plastic fake wood look of the table that came with our new Berkshire, but I will likely stay with it, unless it get ratty looking quickly.
