1987 Starcraft Rebuild

#1 Post by bperkins » Fri Apr 24, 2015 1:49 pm

Hi Everyone.

New to Pontoon boats - but experienced in boat repair and building.

Picked up a beater that will be getting the full treatment.

24' Starcraft.

40HP Evinrude that runs - I'm stepping through it now determining what works and what doesn't - 150PSI compression on both cylinders and runs with a wiggle. I've never run a 2-stroke of this size - so much to learn.

It will be getting a new deck, carpet, pontoon pressure/leak test and then whatever else we come up with.

Looking forward to drawing upon your experiences.

Deck removal: The current deck was screwed down. Seems like they worked well. Rails are bolted.

I'm assuming I should reuse bolt holes as much as possible, but deck screws don't worry about them. Just drill new and move along.

Old junk removed... ready for hauling to the dump.

Thanks for having me!
