We've done that plenty of times...no different than how the factory builds a tube in sections. Just measure twice and cut once. And use a qualified welder, and make sure you pressure test the finished product.

Yes, exactly. What do you think about that? As long as it's straight and welded properly it should work well right?

Yep ! Just how Toonguy said!

I really cannot tell if moving my engine back helped make it quieter. That was not really one of my goals, so I never really payed attention to before and after. It is a two-stroke...the sucker is loud, I figured that was the price I paid. If I think back to the pre-tritoon boat, the engine was tucked right up against the back of the play pen and that probably helped muffle it a little. With the engine out away from the playpen, by about 3 feet, I think the noise travels inside the playpen a little easier...I think. With this new 150Hp I am hoping that the wind noise will over power the engine noise!! :nana :prayer

Thank you, that's what I thought!

What do you guys think about using the back 6' of toon as a fuel cell if I leave the rear end cap on the front tube as a divider. Having a proper vent of course. Is the toon alone thick enough?

If you mean using the tube to hold a fuel cell, yes that is the way most are manufactured today. If you mean using the tube itself to hold the fuel...NO WAY. You would at the very least want to construct some sort of double walled area and I'm still not sure that would be acceptable.

Get a fuel tank made for marine use that fits where you want it, construct brackets to hold it in place and seal / vent the area properly and you will be much happier in the long run :thumbsup

That's kinda what I figured. I'll just add another tank on the back of the deck since I already have an extra marine tank left over from the donar boat.

You going to make a pointed bow deck on it? Keep us posted on the progress.

I was planning to have most of the extra length hang out of the back to bring the back up out of the water but may let some of it hang out of the front to and do a radius bow. We'll see how it goes with brackets lining up with crossmembers and how far my cables will reach etc.

I'll definitely keep you posted. Welder Man comes Thursday or Friday to weld everything up
