Attaching enclosure canvases

Planning my pontoon rebuild when I finally get one, hopefully next year.

My buddy has a pontoon with a half enclosure. It is attached with snaps all around the rigid frame. However, it's a bear to get on and off, and basically leaves it on all the time.

Does anyone have any thoughts about attaching an enclosure via zippers? Thinking about a snap-on "header" with a zipper, then just sipping and unzipping the surrounds all around the enclosure, leaving the "header" snapped to the frame.

Thoughts?

A zipper may work well. i would talk to the canvas shop your dealing with and see what they say. On another note there is a tool available for removing/unsnapping snaps that takes all the strain off the canvas and your fingertips. I always use it

Mine is all zippers to the biminis, and all snaps to the tin.
Takes 15 to 20 minutes to put up/take down, but I leave it up all summer - it protects the boat.

It also helps to dab a little dielectric grease on the snaps  .
