Bow Thruster in Action

#1 Post by Seon » Tue Oct 27, 2015 5:13 pm

Brought the Pontoon back to the marina mid-morning but didn't get a chance to do "donuts" in the slough but will in the near future.

Here's a short clip of the Thruster used to turn the bow in order to back the Pontoon into the slip.

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Good Job! looks like it will work just fine!

When I worked for the double XX's (Exxon) I had a 1150 ft tow with a 600 HP bowthruster. they will spoil you believe me.

Could not find that picture last night.
Ya it does. :thumbsup
I have it easy docking and made the slips at my dock a little wider than normal and their pull in back out but on high that Minn Kota will throw the front of that boat around quick.
Tell you something else I love. Is that electric anchor beside it. Man how did we live without toys when we were growing up. :bowdown

I could see where a bow thruster would be a nice addition to any boat if you can afford the option.

The thing that is really nice, is your ability to parallel park.
Turn the thruster right, and the steering wheel left, with forward thrust, and you will go sideways to the right, while moving just a bit forward.
Go thruster right, and steering wheel right, with reverse thrust, and you will go sideways to the right, while moving just a bit aft.

Bob, I replied with links to your thruster build. I hope you don't mind. I was really iimpressed with your microcontroller.
