Aluminum crossmember replacement and addition - 2 3/4 inch

#1 Post by tm530 » Sat Feb 27, 2016 5:34 pm

Hi,

I am in the process of re-decking my 1990 Monark 28 foot pontoon, and I am looking to replace a bent crossmember and add 2 additional to the motor mount area. Does anyone sell pre-made aluminum crossmembers in a 2 3/4 inch height? Pontoonspecialists.com has them in a 2 inch height, but no sign of anything else.

Hoping one of you has a source before i start visiting the local metal fabricators!

Thanks in advance,

When I was extending my deck I used some heavy gauge alum. and bent my own, fortunately my brother n law has a mental brake but you could probably fine a sheet metal shop that could do it.They don't have to be shaped exactly like the originals as long as they are the right height and can be bolted, screwed or welded into place.

That's ok everyone needs to take a mental break occasionally.

I'd go for 2.5" C channel from a metal supplier and make some 1/4" spacers out of some 2 or 3" wide flat bar.
