Ordered a cover from pontoon since it did not have one. Has anyone ever installed one that did not already have snaps in place? Tips?

Thanks for the help!

Not hard to do. You can purchase a snap tool with snaps they are not expensive at all. Then just mark where you need the snaps male and female. When installing the male which will have a small screw on the back drill a pilot hole first. Also if you have a way to reinforce the fabric for the female snap I would do that also.

Unless ive missed something, Pontoonstuff doesn't sell custom OR mooring covers. Only generic storage covers.

Yes, you'll have to install new snaps to correspond with the other half of the snaps on the anodized square tubing.

Installation will work better if you leave the cover out in the sun prior to starting adding the snaps--warm it up.

Then install the snaps one by one .

If it IS a generic storage cover don't bother adding the snaps because they'll just tear out. Those covers don't fit tight like a mooring cover and flapping in the wind will tatter the material at the snap locations. Just use the rope or elastic in the hem & the tie-down loops to secure it.

That's what I'm dealing with on the pontoon I just bought. PO added snaps around the beltline and most of them have torn the cover. I don't have $800+ for a custom mooring cover so I'm looking at my options for next season because I'm not going to deal with this floppy torn cover next year.

I wish someone made generic MOORING covers that would come in several sizes for a "close enough" fit once I add the snaps in the correct locations. Realistically most pontoon playpens are so similar in size & shape that this could work but canvas shops are raking in the $$ making custom covers one-at-a-time and not making patterns to save the next customer money.

I love my PS cover! I used doubled up snap straps to make my peak higher water flows right off.

Had to put the snaps on myself; no big deal at all.

Here it is a new season & I'm still no closer to finding a mooring cover that will fit my short 15' playpen.
There are several "good enough if you don't really care" covers on eBay but all have large-radius corners, while my 'toon is typical of older models that have the small-radius bends. I think the "pointy-er" small radius will eventually rip through the wider sweep of the newer pattern.
