Thanks Rcg, I enjoyed your rebuild thread, that's what convinced me to go with the vinyl.
I figured I will need something on my feet when the sun's on it.. Thanks for the heads up..
When I get allotted more $$ from the boss, plan on getting a wash down pump like the one here on Ebay to spray down when it really gets hot..

Thanks Dave, This is a case where the pictures really DO it justice..
The fence paneling is pretty dented, replacing it was definitely not in the budget, so close up it shows. Looks 100% better than it did though.. Especially for a 25 year old..

Wanted a small boat so when I saw this 18 footed for sale I jumped on it.. Will be used for fresh water most if not all of the time, its definitely a lake/river cruiser. The yammie 40 seems to be more than adequate for the cruising i'll be doing.
Just got it out for the first time last weekend so have not mounted the transducer yet, but will update. Planned on asking the forum for advice on this..

I noticed your stainless wheel. That's the first thing I've changed out on all my pontoon boats, as the extra leverage from the larger diameter wheel helps offset the stiffness of those "zero feedback" clutches they put in the steering these days.

After the last 10+ years running a Hurricane with hydraulic steering; it's very noticeable.

I agree. I now need a suicide spinner knob on the wheel!
I replaced the complete steering assembly with a Seastar safe-t QC rotary system that I would recommend.

Also had a problem with the control box being stiff, hard to shift. Took apart the Yamaha 703 and cleaned/greased it up, but still stiff when connected to the motor. Found that if I disconnected the cables from the motor the control box worked smoothly.
Also when the cables were disconnected from the motor, the motor throttle/shifter worked fine by hand as well. But when all was connected up, stiff as hell.
Ended up being the cables themselves. Replaced with a set of Seastar Xtreme 3300 cables and now smooth as butter..
Can recommend a set of those as well..

Hey! First time on here. I was just breezing through and came across your rebuild. I am doing a 19' Ercoa. I was surprised to see you have almost all the identical things I am doing. I did the gray vinyl flooring and am doing the exact same console and couch layout, same colors and everything. This is my first time on here so will try and show some pics of my progress.

How do you like the console? Seem like it will hold up? I was trying to see if you had the fence attached to it to add some support to the fence. Is the controller side mounted on the fence? Thanks and hope mine turns out as good as yours.
