So i rereaded :?

So after that , ignore most of what i said, pull off starter and test it for function, there could just be corrosion holding it back ie the spring or grooves rusty that the little gear rides in on armature

Sorry for bad info

Sometimes when I rereaded things, it makes better sense. Most of the time......not. Usually it just means no more beer for me. :nono

Gonna be pulling the starter this afternoon. Gonna try shooting the Bendix and the armature shaft with Dry Lube first to see if some minor gunk will pop loose. Then on to the next part.

FINALLY wet again yesterday afternoon! My buddy decided to check a few things before I got in from work. Pulled and wire brushed EVERY contact point on the motor. Posts were all showing 12.6v, but actual contact spades were corroded "just enough." Took a nice ride for an hour or so. DAMN that feels great again!

:nana :nana :alright :alright :happy :happy

My buddy's turn to drive. Beautiful afternoon!

We live on the Santa Rosa Sound - the intercostal waterway. That beautiful emerald green water of the Gulf is 1.2 miles "across the street" from us. The Sound is not the most perfect water, but is enjoyable for boating. More chop and tide concerns than a lake. The large plus is (usually) the weather stays nice a good long time. One of the downsides is the depth. Especially at low tide, you can wade into the Sound a couple hundred yards at no more than chest deep. LOTS of 2' - 3' shallows.

Gotta plot a course from the slip to where the fire works will be on the 4th (about an hour ride), so we can make it home at midnight :happy

Please allow me this moment........

TRILOBE PINS SUCK!!!! And maybe even the guy who invented them.

Trying to replace the trim motor and the ram trilobe pin won't budge. Ended up breaking the head off. Dammit! Reading a thousand forums, etc. some recommend pound the main pin through and shear the trilobe pin off. Um.... no. Not happening. :censored :censored

Gonna get that bitch off if I have to take a flamethrower and a couple of artillery rounds to it.

Anybody else ever had to come up with a solution?

all I found was make sure motor is all the way up, ensure strong support/safety bars in place (takes the load off the main pin so trilobe pin has no force on it) and either vice grip and turn out OR beat the shit out of it until you have clearance under the mushroom head for a clawed pry bar...but since you dont have the head on it any more :donno

good luck with it,

HAHAHA! Franzia is a choice bansil enjoys. I usually only have wine when I want to REALLY mellow out. Beer and Bourbon are my choices. :givebeer
