Nice work! I turned my flip flop into a cooler, but with my drunks on board I always need to stand up! I think I'm going to put locking wheels on it and take off the back making on rolling cooler ottoman.. I have a big captains chair to put there.
How long does the ice keep in the flip flop. I was worried that with no insulation it melt fast. That would certainly solve one problem. I thought about using a captains chair but with limited space on the 20 foot I am trying to make the most of the space I have.

Next step for me as I wait on 2.5" hole saw and 1/4-20 nylon lock nuts. I will be upholstering some marine plywood to cover the control cables and to mount the motor control on also for a small livewell I am not sure how this is going to look since my wife does not sew and has instructed me to never "I MEAN NEVER" buy her a sewing machine so this will be folded on corners.

I hate nylon nuts. I've had a few occasions where they heated on driving in and were a bitch to try to remove. They serve a good purpose, but they suck hard.

I am fortunate that my wife sews like a champ and welcomes the challenge. For this project, she's recovering the sundeck panels. When we bought the boat, the Bimini boots were rotted. She made new Bimini boots that are every bit factory looking.

That's great that your wife can sew and likes it be sure to include some pics of her handiwork, mine can sew but does not like it (bummer). New Pics, This is the way I decided to mount my motor control box. I modified the existing mount and put new vinyl on it, by the way I purchased matching vinyl for my seats and found that the vinyl actually matched the seat bases not the seat cushions which is ok for my purpose. Anyway here are the new pics

I bought this a few years ago and never installed it, I am considering installing it on my rebuild. If I could find a storage box to fit under the deck to install in case I do not like it would make the decision to install much easier.

And another, Any thought on this? It is a Trollmayte have to cut hole in deck to use it I haven't heard any bad about it but haven't heard any good either. So if I cut the hole and do not like it I would turn it into storage locker if I can find a plastic storage to go between the aluminum cross members.

A couple of years ago I had to replace the steering cable. Found out what a booger it was, especially found the importance of the correct length. It's a thick, mostly unforgiving cable. If you're using the existing one, I wonder if you'll see any issues running your steering cable if it's an 18" shorter run?

:donno
After thinking about this and measuring my cable if I moved it back I think my cable would be too long, so I will be installing console in same location as old one. Everything on this boat cost a lot of money and I am also wanting to refurbish my trailer.

I used pink foam insulation to line the bottom and sides! Works great I'll get a pic when I go check on her.

That would be great if I could use it as a cooler once you get pics if you could let me know what brand and thickness of foam it was.

Hey, Bill - I'll try to post a couple of pics of my wife's handiwork soon. She's working on our sundeck cushions now -- recovering them for the rebuild. I am really lucky. She does it all. She can set 4x4s plumb and straight, sew, and take 2 paper clips and double-sided carpet tape and make a roast! :biggrin2

Ok, I'm sure they will be nice, my wife also helps me with most of my projects and she likes to fish just doesn't like to sew.

Ugh. I feel your pain. Ordered a new ignition switch - expected ship date - 2nd week of May. No thanks... cancel. I hope it comes in early for you.

Bt20bill - Got my seating installed over the weekend. Great tip on the size of the washers! I had already gotten some 1 1/2" washers and was ready to go. Much more secure feeling install.

I sent a message to PS about the ability of the console to support the steering pieces securely - waiting for an answer. Did you fabricate the plywood you were talking about? How'd it go?

UPDATE: The response from Pontoon Stuff --

Does the premium console support the weight of the steering helm, bracket, and steering wheel with no additional support?

That is correct - it will work just fine with no additional support.
