I hope to start on our new console the end of may, the damn virus shit has my welder not showing up until may, plasma table still looks like may.....and then it will be may showers....

I can not wait to get new console cut out and welded together and then wifey can pull me around the lake on the new tube!!

We will be using the existing double bimini we've had all along. It is in perfect shape and would be $$$$ to replace since it zips together in the center to create a rain gutter. Can't take the sun anymore - damn skin cancer issues - so I want/ need full boat coverage.

I know the end of May seems like forever. So many delays, problems created by it. I ordered an ignition switch from Amazon a week ago. Delivery said mid-May. Um... no. Canceled it and ordered it from eBay. Cheaper, free shipping, and guaranteed by Friday.

Just didn't know what fun was until I started wire looming the new harness. Hoping to get it in soon.

Finally got the console pieces put in. Only thing missing is the back-ordered burl wood steering wheel. Really happy with the look. The upper left wood panel turned out well. Solves the OCD and balances the look of the instruments.

Gotta a birthday coming up at the end this month and keeping my goal of being on the water on that day.

That is really nice. I am fixing to work on my steering, I am not sure adding plywood behind it is going to be possible because of the way the area for the steering is made it doesn't look like I can thru bolt in plywood because there may not be enough plywood around bolt to support bolt and nut. I am still going to try though.

Question about the process of gluing down the flooring...

Do you cut the flooring before gluing it down or after?
If before Im worried about it not lining up properly. In order to overcome that Im thinking I should C clamp it in place (using 2x4s to protect the flooring)
on the opposite end from which Im working at the time.
If after, Im worried about it "tenting" on the edges where it hangs over.

Words of wisdom from the experienced are appreciated here.

definitely after! At least for carpet I did. I would think flooring is the same. Once you have it rolled then trim it up... then I put tape over the edges all around to keep them down while glue dried.

Definitely after. That allows you to be slightly off and make it look great. I had no problem with tenting. It lays flat and will hold tight quickly.

This is a good video for "How To". You will (likely) use pourable and paint roller glue rather than trowel adhesive. But the process covered here is good. Note that they do one half of the boat at a time. I also used a 100# floor roller instead of the cutting board. I watched this 20 times before I did mine!

I just did mine 2 weeks ago, fortunately without problems.

Here's the list:

* Used a medium nap roller with an extension. Takes a moment for the roller to get soaked and then rolls right on. Just like painting a room.
* The kit came with 3 jugs of adhesive. It says a gallon will do 80 - 100 sqft. My boat is 192 sqft so I wanted to make sure I used at least a gallon per half of the deck. Went on smoothly and, with my wife rolling it on, pretty quickly got a good coverage. I poured big "puddles" while she came behind me.
* It was in the low to mid 70s when I did mine. I know the product said something about 65* minimum. One thing we did do - we started early enough in the morning to be done by lunch-ish. The temp rises pretty quickly as the sun comes over the house. I wanted to be through before the working time (only 10 mins!) got shortened.
*I rented a 100# floor roller (some call it a carpet roller, some call it a linoleum roller). Did half, rolled it out from halfway to stern edge, then did 2nd half, rolled it out from halfway to bow edge. Worked great for me.
*Once I got it all rolled out and check for air bubbles/ wrinkles, I didn't really pull at it for an hour or more. It held fine. Next morning it was solid.

I will add that we trimmed the edges (NEW razor blade) after that hour AND stapled the edge all around after trimming.

What did yall use for the Joint Compound? Lowes does not have Exterior Grade joint compound, nor did they have any wood putty that I could find.
