2011 Suncatcher VX322

#1 Post by zwigstrom » Wed May 13, 2020 8:16 am

I am wanting to redo the layout after this season. I am wanting to relocate the gas tank to the back middle toon. I have pics. Do you guys think it will be possible? I am going to replace the flooring so the middle will be open. The x is where I want to put the tank. It is currently on the back in the fencing.

Are wanting to move the TANK or the FILL HOLE location?

I want to move the tank into that third toon in the back. I wanted to cut that panel where the X is and put it in there.

Wont you get a lot of water splashed onto the tank and the back of the engine if you cut it out?

Can you mount it in front of that plate w/o it dragging in the water?

If there is room under and in front of that plate, sure make drop down brackets like OTR trucks use and attach to cross braces

So what it sounds like you want to do is remove the floor, cut open the top of the center toon, and drop a gas tank inside that toon. If that's correct, it sounds do-able, but my first question would be what's inside the toon at that location? Is it just hollow empty space, is there any kind of bracing or bulkhead there??

If I'm on the right path, my first step would be to remove the floor, then if everything looks good visually, I'd drill a small hole in the top of that pontoon and use an endoccope to see what's inside that part of the pontoon. I don't think you'll really be able to know if you can do if without getting "eyes" inside the pontoon.
