Last camping trip in June at Big Ridge State Park on Lake Norris:

Ok, prepping the engine for removal. Hint on the steering cable, if you don't have enough room to pull it out from the front of the engine, suspend the engine then push it off to one side while pulling out the steering assembly.



You can see how much the transom has failed by this gap:



We cheated by using a FEL and tractor to do the lifting:

Now the work starts:



What was left of the original transom....completely dry rotted:



New 1-1/2" in Ply transom in and bolts snugged up:





Took about 4 hours with help of 3 buddies....

Nice! Just had my transom redone as well. Wood from PS and Welder at one of our jobsites added some support to the aluminum.

I cleaned the toons today, headed to the lake tomorrow........

Considering buying an 1988 toon with an upper sundeck and 2016 Yamaha 115; maybe a nice winter project!

Better Half vetoed that...said we need the pontoon to get away from the other projects - we don't need another one!
Since we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and need to brace up some 90 year old wood floors, I guess she may have a point there.
