Railing risers don't sit flush

Hello and appreciate any thoughts.

Securing the railing down and they partially site on the metal side rub rail and partially on carpet. So when I put the spacer in between the inside of the spacer is lower than the side sitting on the metal side rub rail. Thus the fence is not fully in contact with the spacer it gets angle.

As such the railing seemed rather flimsy at the front.

Has anyone else delt with this and what did you do if anything?

Thanks in advance. Oh and yeah work got super busy and rebuild got stalled for a year.

Yah I"m debating on console now. small out of stock and large seems a bit to large. And I don't like the idea of rebuilding my old one even though it had superior storage underneath.

The big stall was changing the metal on the railings that was a disaster. If I were to do it over I would have left the old metal or just bought new railings.

Now at the last second everyone decided different couch design get rid of the changing room and add more couch. Which is what I tried to get them to agree to last year.

To my original question. I decided to go with the rail spacers even though they were not flush I decided the rails were just there to keep me from falling in the water and structural integrity beyond that was not crucial. :donno

Have to agree railings are safety only, not for strength

Are you saying the spacer causes a lean of the rail? If so, you need to make some custom spacers.......

The only place(s) I might find concern would be if there are any spots where someone getting on or off the boat might use the rail for stability support. Likely around a gate. I don't know what the expectation of that would be, but I have noticed my wall support brace at the gates is starting to get a touch loose from folks who grab the wall at the gate to "pull" themselves in. :censored

Going to have additional angle brackets on all gate openings. It had a few and I ordered more.

It would seem all railings would suffer from being up on these risers vs flat on the floor. guessing the pros out weigh the cons.

No railings are not angled. I'll try to get photo next time down.

Upon closer inspection the railing was leaning in. Noticeable because the door rubbed the carpet. So now having removed 1/2 the risers shimmed the carpet side it turns out the lean is in the railing, not from the spacers not being flush (though that probably didn't help). Ever so slight unnoticeable to my aging eyes but the level shows it. And it doesn't happen to the other side.

Maybe someone will learn something from my mistake :censored
