Hope something like below this doesn't affect any of y'all because it's really going to eff up my summer if it goes on for long. I only get every other weekend off and that's when we go to the lake.

https://www.thestate.com/news/coronavir ... 34416.html
SC Governor closed all public boat ramps, beaches, etc. Our campground on Lake Keowee is private and has its own ramps but they are also prohibiting beaching on islands which is all we ever do with the dogs. They already closed the state parks on Keowee and Hartwell close to us.
Public access points and parking lots adjacent to the state’s beaches will now be closed, the order reads, as will “any and all public piers, docks, wharfs, boat ramps, and boat landings.” The beaching of boats on sandbars, islands, riverbanks or lakesides is also prohibited under the order for the duration of the state of emergency. Private vessels can stop to fish, but rafting is also forbidden under the order.

I think the state should waive my boat property tax and pay my camper lot rent. :x

KS is the only one around here to keep everything open. "Luckily" we sold our lots on Truman and brought THE FLOATER home to KS. She's 25 minutes away and 10 minutes fron there to the water. Hoping to get out soon!

Luckily we slip on private deeded land/slip and 6 ft is 6ft. Rafting. . check that term out with use, because everything they have done is illegal to private property because it violates the constitution (which they dont care about) when/if courts open back up , lawsuits will abound.

Couldn't agree more with the slippery slope. People are letting this happen with no questions. Here in Michigan the state parks are open but any picnic shelter, out house or bathroom is closed. I might hit the water later this week! Once the weather breaks everywhere they won't be able to stop people!!! Our governor was upset last week that people would ride motorcycles around during a shut down , bicycles are ok ...... Seriously I hope half these folks are out of a job shortly.

Is this virus dangerous? Yes, and many other illnesses are dangerous - but panic causes people to make bad decisions and others lose their ability to think logically.

I have zero contact with anyone else by walking across my own lawn to my own boat dock and shoving off to cruise/fish a 33,000 acre lake. But people feel the need to chastise me for being "irresponsible and endangering others" in pursuit of fun.

I am willing to bet that these same people go out shopping because they didn't lay in enough supplies weeks ago.

Really? Some asshole said something to you for being alone on a boat in the middle of a huge lake? WTF?

I'm gonna need another box of ammo.

Yep, but it was/is more than one person. I think that it is driven by the fact that weekenders are coming down from Dallas in large groups to play on the lake. People in panic mode may be assuming that I came in from the city, potentially carrying the virus. Smaller more rural towns across America are worried about this.

So far, there are zero cases anywhere near here, and only one case in the county - at the extreme far end toward Tyler, TX. Obviously that will change soon! It is my firm opinion that this virus has been running through our society since January or earlier. Time will tell, but I suspect that once enough tests are done, we will see the telltale antibodies in people who had "a mystery infection" before we know what this thing is. Ask around and you will find a lot of people had "a weird flu" 2-4 months ago.

Has any state or municipality actually closed waterways of any type? I can understand closing parks, public boat ramps, etc. but if you have your boat in your slip on your land, or if you have you boat slipped in a private marina, I don't see the reasoning to shut those situations down.

Yes, my marina has about 250 slips, and yes, they are closer than 6 feet. But even on a busy day, there's still not a nigh likelihood of me being within 6 feet on a dock. If my slip neighbor is coming or going, I'll wait until he leaves before I go to my boat!

And if families that are living together want to share a boat, so be it. If you invite your friends on a boat and can't stay 6 feet apart, you and your friends are taking a risk.

Ready to dry boat now! Weather looks like we might get to hit the water next week. I hope our worthless governor doesn't shut down the state launches, she closed all Marina's. Boats are just going in here in mi but still not cool......

I've tried to add pictures but I keep getting " too large" normally a screenshot works just fine for me. Oh well... I think this forum needs an upgrade or something. I can post anything from my phone on others I belong to. Sorry for the crummy pics....
