We are far enough inland that we will just get some rain, I hope.
Good luck to everyone on the coast.
Ed, hope you don't have anymore damage.
Dan, good luck protecting that beauty.

Boat's back home now, went down and retrieved her during a break in the rain. We will probably get a good sized tidal surge out of this, power outages, etc. We were without power 3 days after Isabel.

Getting my trusty Honda EU20001 ready and stockpiling water now. :prayer

The Eye wall is about 325 miles east of me. It was windy earlier, but now it is completely calm. It's a little earie knowing what is spinning just off the east coast. Hope you all fair well. Keep us posted.

We had a few of the outer bands spin through here. It is interesting to watch them coming on the radar, blow through and be gone. This weather moves real fast.

I have been watching this and the big determining point will be where it comes over the mouth of the Chesapeake bay. If it is on the Virginia side running up the western shore it will be blowing water up into the bay and Ed may see a huge surge tide by the time it gets that far up. I will be worried about my niece, 100 miles south of him in Point lookout.

If this thing ends up swinging out to the east, going up east of DelMarVa peninsula out in the Atlantic they may get wind but the surge shouldn't be bad. The beaches will take a beating. It might even blow the water out of the bay (a good time to look for that stuff you dropped overboard). Ed could damned near walk to Harvey's Disgrace. That is the storm that New York is peeing their pants over. It probably would not weaken much and might slam into Long Island as a 2. I haven't looked at the buoy data recently but I am sure the water is well over the 80f needed to keep a storm going.
Downtown Manhattan could see a 10 foot surge or more. That would give the rats in the subway a bath.
I think a lot of people are going to have a bad weekend. My best wishes go out to all of you and be safe. It is only stuff, don't risk your life. Take cover in a tough building, as high above the water as you can get.

I'm close enough to the bay to enjoy the view but far enough that I'm not affected by tidal surges. My marina, however will be under water. It's a ghost town right now.

Ed you probably know this but I pack my fridge and freezer with bottles of water a few days before. It is a good thermal mass to hold the temperature, the frozen bottles can be used in your coolers and when it is warm, it is still water you can drink.
I always keep cases of water around here in the summer. I think I have about 12 right now. When Walgreens or the grocery store puts it on sale I stock up. Costco/Sams is reasonable too.

I just bought a generator but we did fine up until now without one. I do have a propane fridge, a bunch of inverters, a golf cart with 6 deep cycle batteries and the redneck power plant to charge them.

Boat is on lake Wallenpaupack and I'm here in southern New Jersey. Preparing to get socked here at home and hoping the mountain house and boat do not see much action there!

Forecast says it will cross right over us. We are about 60-70 miles inland. Expecting 50-70 mph winds.

Trying to get my town prepped for the hit. Had my public works and Emergency management team out today clearing drainage routes and staging emergency generators.

If she continues on this path, it may be the biggest storm for us in over 100 years!

I'm sure they will find a way to blame it on Bush. I understand Debbie Wassermann Shultz is saying the earthquake was caused by a little known plate boundary in central Virginia called "Bush's Fault"

That is awesome!!! :bowdown

Head down everyone in it's path, she looks to be a mean ol biatch.

My partner said yesterday he's gonna hunker down and ride it out on the Outer Banks of NC....I'm (1) wondering how his wife thinks about that and (2) wonder if he still feels that way this morning.

His wife probably thinks he is a moron. I really hope he reconsiders that decision.

Just talked to him again, he's staying.

He's an old veteran of coastal living, is very prepared and talking all of the right precautions. The house he will be riding the storm out in is pretty high and well built.

I told him to keep his head down still though.
