It came back 5 for 5 with me. The 5 people I checked on up there were all OK with minor impact form the storm and everyone had power.

My brother up in Pa. has a huge tree down out front of his house and a few outback though.
Lol right after I posted that, the power went out. Just came back on at 11 AM. The Honda EU2000i saved the day once again :thumbsup Ran my fridge, lights, TV and computers all night.

We just have small branches and leaves down, in the pool, etc. My fig and one of my peach trees uprooted, but the ground's so saturated I doubt they'll die. I just staked them back up. Going out now to clean up...

We need some of the rain that you got but you can keep the winds.

6 adults and 4 children in New Jersey are all ok. 2 adults in NYC are ok.

2 flooded basements, some have power and some don't

All in all not too bad. It could have been worse.

p.s. Father of a friend in the Bahamas is ok, but no report on property damage.

I would caution everyone not to let this make you get complacent. These storms can get a lot worse.

The difference between cat 1 and cat 2 or 3 is amazing. Like Ed says, he had more damage from a "no name" thunderstorm. It may be tempting to say "we went through a hurricane and it wasn't diddly". A small shift in track and a small difference in wind speed can make all the difference in the world.

I am glad everyone was safe, be safe next time too. Consider this a drill.

Very early to predict...but a large wave just came off Africa

1. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED IN
ASSOCIATION WITH A LOW PRESSURE AREA LOCATED ABOUT 400 MILES SOUTH
OF THE SOUTHERN CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS APPEAR
CONDUCIVE FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LOW...AND A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION COULD FORM DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AS IT MOVES
WESTWARD AT 10 T0 15 MPH. THIS SYSTEM HAS A HIGH CHANCE...70
PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

All cleaned up, my property looks as if nothing happened. My lazy ass neighbors however, not so much :rofl

Willow trees get their ass kicked. Most of the debris was from them. Oak tree was just leaves. Most of which were in the pool :x

My partner got a foot and a half of water in the bottom level of his house. When the back half of the storm came over the outer banks of NC, it pushed more water out of the sound than anyone has ever seen there before. Never lost power, phones or internet...but did loose his AC (when it went under water). They are busy cleaning up the garage level today.

Winds never did get that bad but they got way more water than they were expecting.

I just looked at the NHC and they have that new wave at 100% chance of being a cyclone. It is too early to trust a plot. The first guess on Irene was the Yucatan.

Yup, it you look up at my post you see it is now TD#12
That is actually a link to the current picture on the NHC web site so it will change in this thread in real time.

That is the trick I use on our community web site. You use the link to the NHC web site as an IMG file.

I survived here in south Jersey. lotta rain, lotta wind. few very small branches down. took some extra prep before the storm and only got about 10 gallons of water in my sump pit. a friend a few blocks from here and a few more blocks from the Rancocas Creek was advised he should move to higher ground as the creek was gonna come over the top. it did but missed him by a block and a half. every marina on the creek was under water. we took a drive through at high tide and it was amazing how much water there was. the floating dock walkways were 2' above land. northern NJ is still taking a beating with flooding at every high tide. alot of power out up there as well. never lost it here. scariest part of the night was the frequent tornado warnings coming over the scanner. kinda makes your butt pucker hearing the tone, then the towns that are no more that 20 mins from you. I had to have lost 5 years off my life Saturday night listening to that.

Im glad to hear that everyone seems to be getting thru it OK. It is times like these that make me glad to live in MN. No earthquakes, hurricanes, poisonous snakes, killer bees, alligators or politicians. Just some poison ivy and a couple of semi-tame dump bears. Of course come around February, not so much.

we left home in VA last Wednesday to go to Wilmington, NC and the beach - just in time for Irene! After 2 great days, we left the beach Saturday and spent the weekend with family in central South Carolina. We returned to carolina Beach on Sunday and found things were fine. two more great beach days and we had to return to our jobs and...no power until last night.
The toon was hauled out before we left. The custom fitted cover was the only casualty, with three ripped seams. She gets splashed again this weekend! the marina took a big hit when water rose, and rose and rose, more than Hurricane Ike and TS Gaston from 2006. Fuel pumps are OOC until further notice.
