Anyone in Irene's Path?

#1 Post by Ron Burgundy » Wed Aug 24, 2011 3:37 pm

:herbshomeJust wondering if anybody is in Hurricane Irene's projected path. What are your plans if you need to relocate your 'toon? Hope everyone stays safe, and damage free. :herbshome

You can still surf Herb. That's why they make longboards. I'm trying to talk my wife into going with me to Cocoa Beach. My surfboard has been sitting in the garage since I moved away from Cali. We haven't had any good Gulf coast waves since I have been here.

As of right now, the projections are putting the eye of Irene directly over us on Sunday night. The nice thing about the eye of a hurricane is that there is about a 2 hour very beautiful calm between the opposing wind torrents.

I am trying to locate some barn space for the weekend for the boat. I have a huge tent over her right now which would act as a mega sail. I expect to strip the covering from the tent and just leave the frame standing in the driveway. I think the 90+ MPH winds would be impossible to with stand.

I sure hope that Irene will track out to sea!!!!

I hate having to be 200 miles from home when this thing rolls past Jersey. at least I'm a good 60-70 miles from the coast, but only a half mile from the Delaware river.

A friend of mine has her father in Freeport, Bahamas. Crazy how many people this storm could affect.

Taking my boat home today and will leave it out until Weds, Bass Pro Shops is coming to replace my out drive Mon or Tues, severity of storm damage depending.

Got my generator ready and am expecting widespread outages and storm surges. Hurricane Isabel, we had a 7-8 foot surge here :scared :scared

I'll take pics of course.

Being in central NC we don't expect much, but they said the same thing about Fran and then it went right over us, won't forget that. Sounds like our outer banks are going to get the worse of it, sad those islands are so fragile. They have ordered evacuation from all the outer banks this morning. There will be those who stay to ride it out. Praying it moves further east and everybody is safe when it's over!!!!!!!

Yesterday was very windy here. Today, calm but pouring rain. I am watching the weather radar now and it looks like I will have a break in about an hour. If not, tomorrow is supposed to be sunny/calm.
