Changing oil

#1 Post by Lindsay90 » Tue Apr 11, 2006 9:53 am

Ok I know most of you have changed oil yourself but here is what I need input on. I have no worries about doing maint on the motor (75hp 4-S ) but I have had the boat in the water for a summer and a half and think it is time to change oil and gear and spark plugs. I got it brand new and never changed nothing, should I take it in for at least for one good maint going to cost $275.00 and then I do it myself later in life?

Lindsay90 I would ask what they do for the $275.00, if this includes readjusting all controls and linkages then it might be worth the extra money the first time. If not I would be inclined to purchase a good maintenance manual for my engine and do the work myself.

I know for that price all oil (lower and upper ) grease and new spark plugs but good call on adj things like the steering wheel I will check into that. I just want to know if that price sounds about right and what do you guys pay if you were to do it yourself? I mean if I am going to save 50 bucks doing it myself well better to have a trained guy do it then.

Ok update two bad carbs but they went through all four. It pays to use Stabill next time much cheaper.
