I picked up a standard horizon gx 1700 to put in my pontoon.
It has a built in gps and vhf.
What radio are you using?

I have a Lowrance Link-5 VHF radio on my Pontoon. I mounted the antenna at the back of the bimini top. See picture below.

Tying the VHF in with the GPS is awesome.
Wonder with some clever wire twisting if the
GPS chip on the iPhone could be used.

I use MotionX GPS app for off-road and water needs loaded on
my old iPhone 4S, app cost .99 when I bought it.
