Finally Did It!

#1 Post by russelljackson » Sun Apr 19, 2015 9:10 pm

Well, after lurking around here for several years picking up all the info I could. We finally pulled the trigger on our first boat. It's a 2013 SouthBay 522SL, tritoon with a 150hp Yamaha. We're super happy. This boat had absolutely everything we were looking for. It's currently in a slip on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, GA. We have a lot to learn and looked like circus clowns trying to get the cover on it today. :lol3 Thank you guys for ALL your input and help. Also, big thanks to the guys at Gainesville Marina who really made us feel like family. Sales was great, the on water orientation was terrific. Great guys up there.

Very nice boat, in a nice marina--on a great lake.

Since I have covered storage, I only use my mooring cover seasonally--November to April. They're such a pain to install, and it takes a very strong grip to get the snaps snapped.

Great pics, Welcome aboard. Those rear facing lounges would be great for watching you tubers or skiers which 150hp should pull nicely!

Thanks guys! We took her out last night for our first sundown cruise. Very nice, will bring dinner next time.

It's topping out at about 35mph with the 150hp. With the tritoon and the power assist steering, it will turn on a dime. The last time I drove a boat, I was on my dad's knee, so I'm just taking it super easy right now, staying out of everybody's way, learning where I can go and can't go. My docking ability though… not so pretty. :prayer :prayer

Congratulations! We just bought a used boat from someone on Lake Lanier. What a beautiful lake! Ours was sitting in a slip at Sunrise Cove. I was surprised at how inexpensive slip rental is there. It's more expensive up here in Indiana.
