deck boats
I've been doing some research (just in case we decide to trade) about deck boats. So far my wife and I really like the size, layout, and pricing of the Tahoe 222
We like the openness, as most "deck boats" seem to be a bowrider (with a pass thru windshield) and MAYBE they square off the nose a bit. Our funds aren't limitless, so we'll need to stay $30k or below. Any other mfg's or models we should look in to?
Thanks...
David

Doubt it could ever have more room, but 95% of our boating is just the 2 of us. We like the toon layout, and the Tahoe comes fairly close. Our lake is really a river, and getting from here to there takes a long time at 15mph.HandymanHerb wrote:Can't belive your giving up on the Pontoon and that a deck boat would have more room, I guess I need to read more of mag comparing toons and deckboats
Our toon is rated up to 115hp, and I've been doing some research on upgrading. But so far it doesn't look like a promising return trying to push 2 24" logs much faster.
This is my first boat, but my wife comes from a boating family, and she's the main decision factor on whether we'll upgrade, or not.

We looked at a Hurricane by Godfrey before buying a pontoon. If the money would have been there, thats probably what we would have bought. They are nice. We weren't concerned about speed that much, and got more comfort bang for our buck with a pontoon.

Get an E-Tec on there you should get you to 25 anyway, my old 50 will do 17 without the prop guard and 16 with, I want to go to a 115 E-Tec because it's lighter, faster, clean burning and get a hell of lot better gas mileage than my old 2 stroke.
But you know best for your type of boating

Well...a bigger engine would be easier, but there was a discussion on the other board about exactly my situation. Someone had a 60hp, was getting around 17mph, and was wondering what they'd get from a 115hp. According to several posters, it did not reach 25mph.
By lake, it's 18 miles to my MIL's house. That's an hour each way. A deck boat at 35mph cuts that in half.
Oh well...plenty of time for research and thought...

I love the Searay deck boats and if I were rich I'd have one AND my toon. I'm glad however we settled on the toon. Other than the go fast there aren't many other reason to do a deck boat rather than a toon.
Just verified it on Snopes. Liberals are complete mouth breathing idiots.

Yeah...me, too....my wife's father (passed on) used to be the local Sea Ray dealer. We like them, too. And that's why we got a toon in the first place. 2 years of boating has shown us what we like to do and where we like to go. Now it's up to my wife how fast she wants to get there.
