Boat Covers from Pontoonstuff.com

#1 Post by LadyGT » Sun Apr 24, 2016 4:38 pm

Has anybody purchased a boat cover from Pontoonstuff.com? We decided to purchase one of these because we do not have the space to have one of those metal car ports. If not purchased here, which brand is good? We thought to get one that is 600 denier and grey so no chance of color bleeding.

What size boat and size cover? We were thinking going larger so motor is covered too. What is holding up the cover?

Hard to go wrong with getting something larger than you think you need as you never know when something is going to change in how your boat is laid out. My 1200D cover from www.vortexdirect.com was originally a perfect snug fit that could not have been better... That is until I installed a tow bar, a larger bimini and a 2nd bimini to which now the cover is dam small....

Many folks build a frame out of PVC pipe to support under the cover where needed also beach balls work great on your seats etc to hold the cover up and help prevent pooling...

We saw bad reviews for the Vortex covers. I think something was said the cover bled all over their seats.

My husband made a frame out of PVC, but needs to redo it.

Indeed you may have... For this reason I selected their heavier grade canvas not poly as they tend to be more colorfast and a silver color verse blue, red or green etc...

My husband is going to call pontoon stuff and inquire about sizing because we have a double Bimini as well. We bought the boat last year and have been covering it with tarps because we were not sure how to protect it from the weather for the long term. Tarps do not last to long and the mooring cover has too many holes giving access to wasps and other pests. We need to make some decisions soon.

Besides Vortex and whatever Pontoon Stuff sells, are there high quality covers available? With our runabout we just bought one at Walmart because it was small and spent time in the garage. Even though it was not suppose to mold, it did.

We received the cover but my husband says the two Bimini do not fit. Did you have to remove them?

I would suggest looking for someone in your area that makes custom covers. They will fit properly, not flap in the wind and generally be easier to install. Also will not sag or fill with water. Well worth the cost. In my experience, they use better fabric as well.

Is there a Bimini under there? What size did you get?

Our boat is 22' and purchased a 24-26' cover. The width is a tight fit with the biminis down.

We have double biminis and had to store them in the garage in order to get the cover to fit correctly. Your cover looks roomier in the pics which is why I asked.
