What video?[/quote]

Updating the thread.....

I had the 14x13 alum prop fixed and had the shop put a nice cup on it while they were at it. The prop guy said the aggressive cup he added would almost be the same as re-pitching it up to a 14.

Well boating season started and we just had the chance to take it out and see how it drives. Surprisingly its quite different than before too. Now it will cruise much faster at a lower rpm, and wont rev as high as it used to. We cruised around the lake at about 4000 rpm instead of 5000 as before. And instead of hitting 6100 on tap, it will get to about 5800 at WOT. Nice..... So I'm assuming that the cup was significant or the dented blade knocked the whole thing out of wack more than I thought, or a combination of both.

Given how well it drove, at this stage I'm going to enjoy it for awhile before I start looking for a SS prop. :)

Where are you located?
I'm in Phoenix, AZ and have a 14p SS prop and a 16p ss prop that you could try and then hopefully buy.
Most likely the 14p will do it for you.
This is all assuming you have a regular 90hp 4 stroke, not a command thrust...

Thanks DWRAT. I'm in northern CA. What props are they? I would be interested in the 14 depending on what it was and condition.....

Quicksilver Silverado, like new, maybe 2 hours on the 14 as I needed a 16 pitch for my 115 Merc.
I will take half price of new.
You can price them at www.dansdiscountprops.com that's the best deal I could ever find.

Looks good..... Too bad we're not closer to each other so I could try them both. I'm guessing the 16 would be way too tall for a 90, but I'm assuming the 14 would do well too. I never really understood why the overall diameter is smaller on the SS props. Too confusing.....

The 14 should be good on a 90hp.
It was to small for the 115, the 16 worked best on that motor.
Either way, I picked up over 3 mph switching from alum to SS.

I will do you a smoking deal if you want both.
You can always sell the one that doesn't work or keep it as a back up like I did.
Only selling because I finally got a 150hp and it takes a much bigger prop.

So to add to this thread, I also have a Mercury 90hp 4-stroke on a 20' bentley 2007 pontoon. Took it out this weekend for the second time. Pulled the kids on a tube. Could get them up to about 25mph and they were fine with it. The motor runs at 6000rpm max, and that's right where it would hold with a 14 x 11p 3-blade aluminum prop. I'm guessing it was the original one. I think I hit the limiter once because after running wot a bit, the beeper went off and it shut down. No biggie, started it up again and away we went. Was fine all day yesterday. Today, was having issues with pulling the kids on the tube. Started out fine, but then it would rev up, but not much movement. Figured it probably spun out the hub. I'm guessing it's the original quicksilver prop and hub so for a 2007, I shouldn't be surprised. Pulled the kids off the tube, ran around the lake without pulling them and everything was fine, no spinning or revving. I'm guessing the extra weight of two kids and a tube was a bit much. What do you think?

One thing that surprised me, is I'm not seeing anyone else running such a low pitch prop as the 11 I have. But since it's running right where the rpm's are, I'd assume I should stick with it? The prop has some wear, and thinking of switching to a SS prop with a replaceable hub. Honestly, not sure this one is replaceable or not. I had it off before, and it looked pressed in, but not sure. Also was looking at a 4 blade prop? The prop wizard confirmed the 14x11p is the right prop, and gave recommendations of a turning point express SS 3 blade prop, or a Hustler aluminum 3 blade prop. We are in a very shallow lake, with a soft mucky bottom, so we don't hit much that's hard, but my other boat went through a hub one year too and was acting up a little the second year, so maybe I'm harder on them then I thought.

So, leave well enough alone, go with the 3 blade 14x11? Will stainless make a difference with rpm or speed than aluminum?

Your most likely running on your rev litterer with the 11 pitch prop.
BTW, the rev limiter won't cause your beeper to turn on and it won't kill your motor, it will just keep it at your max RPM.
Sounds like you have some other problems going on.

Good point. If I'm hitting the 6000rpm with a light or full load, then it makes sense I'm hitting the limiter. I didn't know it wouldn't beep. That only happened once after running it hard and fast for a bit, maybe it got a bit warm. I slowed it down after that and it didn't happen again. I think I'll try a 14x12 and see what that does.

LOL,
You may have picked up some crud on your lower unit which caused it to get hot.
I can tell by my temp gauge if I am clean or have something down there.
