I have a older Harris Flote Bote with dual 6 gallon tanks off the back. So I have to manually swap mine.

Yours sounds like a newer one with built in tanks. So I can't really speak for an auto tank switch feature. But it does sound like the motor ran out of gas then switched.

Do you only have one fuel filler spot. If so, I'd say you fill both tanks with the one fueling. Mine is a very basic boat so It is interesting to me that they have built in tanks now. If you have dual tanks then you should have either a way to switch it somewhere or it would be automatic. Personally, I like to know when one tank is dry. Also do you have a Gauge/switch for checking the fuel. Would seem looking underneath would be your best bet to figure it out. Mine isn't living in the water though so it may be harder to do for you.

Mine is a 1988 so not much different. I guess your best bet it to get under there and look. I would think with one filler it must fill and switch automatically. But it could have a manual switch over too.

Can you get in there where the filler neck and tanks are?

You could also contact Harris. I emailed them about my 1988 and they sent me the brochure on it so I could know the specs on it (capacities and hp rating)

I had an international truck with 50 gal tanks n each side. It just had a y in it. If you filled one tank it would slowly siphon to the lower tank. If you ran out you had to put some fuel in both tanks or it would just suck air out of the empty one.
