Re: Stereo options
I like to go to the lake for the peace an quite.....why is it that people with loud music blaring....think the whole lake needs to hear it...wear ear phones then TURN it up.

Re: Stereo options
I've only ever ran into a couple people like that. Fortunately. I won't be that guy though. But the kids may want some tunes when swimming off the boat.

Re: Stereo options
I'm not that guy either, Just talking about a little background music when i'm sitting at the dock having a drink or rigging baits, not blasting down the river with 1000 watts.

I'm not into the BIG sound, just something to listen to my pandora with. I am thinking about the Boss round gauge style because it has NOAA weather band on it and use some good speakers like infinity. Always heard that was the best way to skimp. You can get by with a cheaper head unit but always use good speakers.

I may do something similar. I am going to get good speakers for sure. although I have seen a couple packages that had speakers too buy company names I know ...hahaha so many now I don't know
That's the smartest thing to do....I'm on probably the tightest budget in history, with my pontoon project.
Last week, I helped a guy swap out his stock radio (An entry level Pioneer according to Pioneers website) for a top of the line unit with just about every feature they currently offer. After we did the installation, he talked me into going out on the lake. All I can say is that most of his time was spent scrolling through his smart phones playlist...I was unimpressed. I thought his stock unit was actually a better unit. Luckily for me, I now have a "FREE" Pioneer with all the features I wanted...dimmer, MP3, AM/FM, graphic equalizer, remote...I'll also be hooking up 4 Boss MR6W speakers (Had to buy them) because they had really good reviews and most importantly they cost less than the speakers I bought for my Camaro 45 years ago. Generally, I like the stereo turned down for "background" sound like you hear in some elevators and stores, but sometimes I like to crank it up and party...just like I did, 50 years ago.

Re: Stereo options
i bought a nice little boss gauge style, has preamps blutooth, am fm, all that came with two 6 inch speakers, easy to install especially since i had the deck off,
one hole saw in the console easy easy... lower left on the console, i put one speaker in the console and on in the lounger opposite the console, waterproof,
with the blutooth we can listen to the ipods or use my phone to stream sirius xm, if you are going to get a radio get a second battery and the battery isolator, use just one battery while anchored, seen lots of guys kill a battery using their radio then cant start the boat to go home.

Re: Stereo options
Good looking console. I've seen that Boss one and wondered about it. I'll have trolling motor batteries up front on mine too so I doubt I ever kill the battery. Heck mostly I don't think I will use it much (but it may surprise me) mostly I'd be putting it on there for the wife and kids.
