Toon buying lesson

#1 Post by Opie » Tue Aug 29, 2017 1:17 pm

Took the wife to the local boat dealer, after giving up on the expensive dream of a large sailboat on the great lakes..........just too expensive, and too long a drive for a day on the water. Under the ether big time in the showroom.........pontoons have come a long way! Settled on a 2018 Harris Sunliner 200 with a 115 Merc they had on the floor, one of only 4, 2018's they had just received. Great price, perfect layout, and price was good. Wife wanted to go home, think it over, do a "spreadsheet" for the numbers :scared before committing. Got her convinced to do it, and could hardly wait till they opened the next day to seal the deal...........Well I call and don't you know, it sold right after we left, felt gut punched! Anyway, ended up ordering one, with some color changes and a few more bells and whistles, and in 8 weeks, it should be delivered. Hardest part will be waiting all winter to get it launched! can't wait, but they say good things come to those that wait, feel like I'm getting the perfect fit boat, all with only 4 change order adds so far! keep me away from that damn catalog and internet website..........

Opie, congratulations! I know the feeling. We are currently waiting for ours to be built. We hope it arrives before the weather turns bad.

Hey, I think you'll really love that Harris! I sure like the stern rail/fence. Next boat of mine will have it.

I hate to hit you with a bucket of cold water, but if you ordered your boat and they told you 8 weeks, you should not be surprised if it's more like 12. A few of us know what that's like!
