Need help with choosing a prop.

I have a 2004 Misty Harbor 2585 GM and a 130HP 4 Stroke Honda. I want to buy a spare prop and I'm not sure if the prop I have is the proper size. It's an aluminum Honda prop 13.5x15

I went to the Honda sight to choose a prop based on my boat weight etc etc and it say's to use a 14x11

According to NADA my boat weighs 2320 dry and no motor??? Does that sound right for a 25 foot pontoon?

I figured 6 people in the boat at 180 each. 1080 pounds

24 gallons of fuel

I wish I could remember the rpm's I turn at WOT but it seemed low like under 4000 rpm if I remember right. My boat will do 24 mph with 6 people on it. I get great fuel consumption if I take it easy but when I run it over half throttle I get terrible fuel consumption. I want to maximize fuel due to not having enough places to fuel up on the water. I've almost run out a couple times.

What do you guy's think I should do? Hopefully I have given you enough information.

Thank you, Brett

Those numbers don’t sound right. Go test again under the regular load you normally carry.

You can expect 180-200 change in Rpm between prop sizes.

Go get an exact WOT reading and calculate from there. That boat should turn more rpm with a 15 I would think. Double check the numbers.

Go out on your boat with a couple of people and 1/2 tank of fuel. Then take note of your speed (gps) and maximum rpms. Are you getting any prop ventilation in a tight turn?

Then com back on this forum with specifics.

An aluminum 13.5x15 prop should be pretty close for that motor. You might want to confirm that your tach is working. I just cant see that motor not spinning it to at least 5000 rpms. You will want to be 5500 to 5800 I think.

Going with a 14" dia will help with ventilation if thats an issue.

I'm going off memory but you're right I need to go back out and do the things mentioned. I will record tach and other info and report back. I'm in Iowa so we just had snow yesterday.
