Small V thingy on transom

My 2016 40hp (BigFoot Ct) Party Barge 18dlx has a funky little V shaped thingy on the center of the engine transom mount.. Some folks say remove it.. What’s it for? What happens if I cut it off?
As of now my motor has to have full down trim otherwise I lose speed.. Will this adversely affect this? I’m ready with the hacksaw waiting on replies lol!

I saw something on that one time but can't remember where, did find this...
https://forums.iboats.com/forum/general ... -motor-pod... my 2017 18ft bass buggy has it,,, no perceived problems so it stays.. What I what to know is what the hell is that plastic black thing.. about the size of a cigarette pack.. zip tied to the front rail is???

One of the guys at work bought a toon from Bass pro, not sure on model but I will try and remember to ask when I see him. Anyway he was having some issues with the prop losing grip and he told me the dealer cut an angled plate off the transom and it fixed everything. I never saw any pictures but I wonder if that's what he was talking about.

gas filler that's the cap to the gas tank!

Wise man indeed... Haven't been posting here much but there are some older posts here that I participated in about removing the V and upgrading the ECM via Simon too...
