Disguising blemish in carpet?

I was working on my under seat lighting and damaged the plastic Berber carpeting. It left a slightly Brown mark from the heat gun. I know there is no way to repair it, but I was trying to come up with some sort of creative way to hide it because it is the first thing I look at when I get on the boat now.

I was thinking of some sort of mat that would double as protective mat if somebody were to spill a drink at the table. Other than that, I cannot think of much. Does anybody have any thoughts or ideas? Here is a picture of the spot in question. It looks worse in person!

Google "carpet dyes" lots and lots out there for building maintenance and auto detailers. Might find something.

I'm pretty particular when it comes to keeping my boat looking good so I understand why this bothers you.

Having said that, give it a little time. I predict that before you know it you won't notice it any more. I can assure you that few others will ever notice it.

Often times, what you do in an attempt to hide something is actually more noticeable than what you were trying to hide. (been there, done that)

Enjoy your summer.

Just place a 30-pack of beer on that spot and consider it your storage area. :lol3

After looking at the picture, my mind went in this direction.

The table pedestal can be interchanged with a Stripper Pole.

Google "Pole Dancing Mat". These are safety mats that are designed to fit perfectly around a stripper pole (which will cover up the affected area). This addition will be a great conversation piece plus solve your OCD problem. :biggrin2

Post pics when your are finished with the project!

If you just can't stand it, you could try to cut out the bad part and patch a piece in. Provided, of course, you can get your hands on a chunk of the same carpet.

If you try this, use the double cut method. Place a piece of the new carpet over the damaged part. With a brand new blade in a utility knife, free hand cut through both the new piece and the damaged piece at the same time. Make sure to cut all the way through to the plywood and keep the blade as vertical as possible. Pry out the damaged piece, clean up the glue residue and then glue the replacement piece in with contact adhesive. If you do it right, the replacement piece will be nearly invisible.

Great idea! I did that in my Gazebo a few years back. Not sure what the stain was, it was after the kids threw a party. I was afraid to ask. I think it was Hot Rod tracks! :censored kids!

After reading responses it is obvious ya'll ain't got animals :nono

I can let you borrow my rubber boots (you gotta pay shipping) when you get them; step in regular plain water before stepping on carpet.

That will rehydrate the chicken, goat, dog and alpaca shit.

Just walk around boat drinking a beer or two, let it dry after removing the boots off your "apparently city feets" :P

Take a broom and brush out chunks, i guarantee you will not remember that little spot

Thanks for the idea. I am not sure I am brave enough to try it though!
