I use my boat two or three times a week but NEVER on a holiday. Too many people out there that should not be allowed to own a boat.

Not me... my wife and I pretty much have a standing policy that we don't take to the lake on holidays.. way to many boats / jet ski's / etc etc.. not only a lot of lake traffic, but sadly way too many of them drunk... not to mention I sure as hell don't want to be out there at night with all that. Instead we will be at an air conditioned indoor barbcue buffet at a local restaurant on a near by golf course, and then it will be lawn chairs along the 9th tee box to watch the fireworks show...

Mmmm..google....how far away is Shreveport?...darn, we have to stay home

We will be at our spot and be hooked by 7, then cook dinner probably boil some shrimp in old bay wait for friends to tie up to us, after fireworks we will chill and talk for an hour or two. ..then head to slips

Leaves plenty of time for drunks to get off lake or be arrested

I fired them on the water, but I'm doing like the rest, big holidays I stay off the water!!!

We had to transfer explosives from one truck to another at the shoot site and had people reading explosives, jumping over the boxes, shouldn't have been near them, but some people lose their minds on a holiday

...I will be watching from our deck on Lake Livingston Tx---our little town has a great fireworks show. They pull a barge out about 200yds from my deck and light it up--pretty cool.

Roland -- I would have guessed Northwood. I am from N Louisiana. Haynesville. Played Northwood many times. Lived out toward Blanchard for a while back in late 90's Fished Cross, Caddo, the river a lot. Went to Jefferson Tx by boat from Hwy 43 bridge above state park on Caddo Nice ride.... Spent a few years in car biz there-Rountree Caddy, Mitsubishi, Harvey Toyota in Bossier, Winningham/Jack Long Nissan.

what a small world... you said you lived out toward Blanchard.. well we live in Blanchard in Indian hills... I'll bet you probably have used the same boat launch that we always use on caddo lake.. we always put in at the bridge up in Mooringsport.. parking sucks there but we normally go during the week so it's not really an issue.. plus the water right off the launch is around 15 feet deep.. and who knows, we may have crossed paths at one of those car dealerships... I bought a 92 Olds 98 Elite from Roundtree as well as a Sedan Deville from Roundtree Cadillac in 96... bought my 2007 Avalon from Harvey toyota in Bossier... I was trying to think of some of the names of the guys I dealth with at those dealerships... Do you know Ron Roth or Jerry Woolman from Rountree? or Travis Harvey from Harvey Toyota?... where in Blanchard did you live?

I lived out on the Blanchard Hwy at a business called L E G Trucking--I think maybe Dykes Well Svc may be there now. I launched mostly at a private launch at the end of State Line Rd -guy's house--anyone could launch there--you were right in the channel when you launched. Had a 15 ft stick steer bass boat. Worked at Rountree in '92. I remember both those guys by name but not sure personally. Seemed like Woolman was in service dept at Pontiac/GM store in Bossier. I was ass't service mgr at Harvey in 96-97 range. Didn't know Travis but knew owner Tommy Harvey well.

Happy 4th!!

Watched from our dock. On the Sound, we have a clear view of Pensacola's, Navarre Beach's, and the length of the beach properties and our neighbors. 360* viewing for about 2 hours. Great time with great friends! :thumbsup :thumbsup

Thankfully I live on a lake that I still feel safe on Holidays. I would hate to own a boat and not be able to use it on the Fourth of July.

Our fireworks really sucked this year. They had some problems and they started late and ended early, but just being out there on a perfect weather night with friends was worth it.
