Got a new boat yesterday

#1 Post by smltooner » Sat Sep 29, 2018 9:52 pm

My wife and I traded our 11-year-old pontoon for a brand new one, today.
We had a 2007 Suntracker Party Barge 22 Regency w/ a Mercury Big Foot 60HP outboard.
We are now the proud owners of a 2019 Bennington - 21SL w/ a Yamaha 150HP outboard.
The Bennington has the Sport Performance System w/ 3 logs, under skinning, lifting strakes, SeaStar hydraulic steering, a 32-gallon transom fuel tank, ski tow bar, GPS speedometer, vinyl flooring, and a stainless prop.
The biggest difference in the 2 boats, that is going to take getting used to, is the speed. The Suntracker ran 18 mph by GPS wot and the Bennington runs 40 mph by GPS wot.
I'll add the required pictures next week.

Congratulations! Nothing is better than a brand new rig and it's the perfect time of year to get to know it well.

I too am a Bennington/150 hp owner. They get a little exciting when you hit 30 plus mph and the nose raises into the wind. Most passengers don't care to run over 40 mph anyway. Congratulations.

Exciting stuff! Nothing like a brand new boat, but I wouldn't know what to do with all of that speed :lol3

Congratulations to you guys.

When the salesman and I went for the test drive, I got 40mph at WOT.
I had forgotten how fast that is on the water.
I'll be cruising at 25mph, that's more my speed.
But, it is nice to know that you have an extra 15 mph if you need it.

enjoy that boat, sounds awesome. I like SML, I have family with a house up there so get to visit once in a while...
He has a deck boat and one ride on my toon and he wants to trade it in....
I am the guy at the boat ramp that gives you dirty looks when you are a complete idiot and too stupid to know it.
