Question regarding Forum Posting Structure

Sometimes I have issues finding the most recent topics. Is there any reason why the latest posted topics are not rotated to the top of the discussion so they can be easily found and responded to? I know this is minor and may be due to the structure of the administration of the board but just curious because rotating the newest responses to the top would be easier to find and respond to and not get lost further down the list..

Craig,
Thanks for the info. I tried that and it works for todays posts and will use that info. However, it would still be helpful if the topics were shuffled so they were in chronological order from the top down according to last post date on the topic. If you are looking for a topic it would be easier to find it by date then by reading pages to find the last post. But, if that does not happen then checking new posts daily will find new posts..

Oldchuck-
I also find it odd that the board doesn't sort posts with the newest replies being at the top of the topics list. It seems like most other boards do sort that way.

I just click on the unread posts link and that gives me everything I need. The first time I did it, I had to "mark all as read" but after doing that once, it only shows me what I know are posts that are new to me.

Steve,
Yeah, it seems that it would be easier to have most recent posts sorted chronologically as most other boards do.
For all the new posts, the "New Posts" works however if someone is new to the board they can not easily find a topic that may be of interest to them. They may get tired of sorting through pages and pages for a topic of interest and find the board not informative...Also, for visitors checking out the board they do not see the "New Posts" and may choose not to stay here. Not trying to throw stones just thinking of ways to make the board more friendly and easier to all to find topics of interest...

Curtis,
Thanks for sending it along. Was not sure what to do with it. Have found this board after coming from a manufacture sponsored board and would like to see this board prosper and just looking for ways to make it more appealing to new viewers...

Personally I used to like it when way back when the "Active Topics" button used to work in the upper left myself. The "unanswered topics" seems to work fine but who uses that choice? All in all this is a wonderful forum but it could be a heck of a lot more user friendly if everything worked as designed.... :donno

Bamby,
That is why I suggested the topics be listed in Chronological order from most recent to oldest. That way one could just look from the top of list to see what was new or to follow an interested post. Even unregistered folks could see what was being discussed most recently and would not get lost in pages of posts which could lead to them leaving this board for another where they could find "their" interest easier...Having recently come to this board from another and just looking at it as a newcomer trying to find what interests me...I understand what a pita maintaining a board is and not throwing stones at the administrators but trying to make it more friendly and increase its' readership...
