Panel corrosion

#1 Post by FLOUNDERPOUNDER225 » Sat Jan 12, 2019 12:34 pm

2015 BERKSHIRE 231 RFC. The picture is showing small blistering corrosion where the box tube meets the panel. The water gets trapped there. Kudos to my dealer Paradise Marine in gulf shores AL. They are replacing ALL the panels on the boat under warranty. Something to keep your eyes on if you're operating on salt water.

WOW, that is one good dealer right there. You are very lucky my friend.
I am the guy at the boat ramp that gives you dirty looks when you are a complete idiot and too stupid to know it.

Paradise Marine in Gulf Shores has been great, I've only had a few warranty issues and they were all cosmetic, but never once questioned. My speakers with LEDs in them, some of the LEDs went out. They shipped me 4 new speakers to my house.

Flounder,
That is a great dealer and one who I hope folks become acquainted with because a good dealer is as important if not more so than the make of boat.
You are correct in that operating in salt water brings different issues especially in a metal boat. Good catch before it got worse.

I've been a Navy aircraft equipment mechanic my entire life (38 years so far) plus boats, I know corrosion like that only gets worse and worse, I actually didn't expect them to jump so quickly at it, and it's not just the aluminum panel, they order and replace everything as a unit in whole sections, so the railing and all is brand new.
