Even though my boat is only two years old, and I love it, When the weather gets cold and I can't use my boat, my mind starts thinking about what I can do to upgrade it for the coming season. Last year it was adding a NMEA 2000 network so I could get engine data on my chartplotter. This year I decided to upgrade the audio with a new amp and subwoofer, which I've purchased and will install as soon as the weather starts to warm up.

I have also been thinking about adding a grill, but I just couldn't think of a way to mount it or a place to put it. I wanted somewhere it would be functional, but not always in the way. I've seen brackets that let a grill hang off the side of the boat, but If I used those, I'd have to take the grill off because the grill would be in the way when pulling into my slip. I thought about creating some sort of sliding bracket to let it slid back into the boat when not in use, but that idea was questionable and never really took off.

I have some dead space behind my helm seat, and I've seen some boats that have an "entertainment center" there which typically has a sink in it, etc. So I decided to have a custom "grill center" built. It's basically a counter top sized to hold the grill, with storage underneath when the grill isn't being used (and cooled off), and some other storage drawers. After about 10 revisions, I've finally settled on a design and it should be ready in a couple of weeks. I think it's going to add a new dimension to my boat. Can't wait!

Honestly since we have been using our Blackstone propane griddle...we dont need or want a grill on the boat, rv or camping.
Look at my 4th of July pictures in build thread from last year, a griddle is so much better for cooking anything like 50,60,70's diner and moar.

Bansil- Thanks for your thoughts on the griddle. I've used griddles before and prefer a regular grill. Simply personal preference. If I want a griddle like surface, I can just add a cast iron griddle pan and have the best of both worlds.

But I can sound like a 2yr old playing pots and pan drums in the kitchen, with all the SS bowls for steaming and stuff

And here's the finished product installed in the boat. I'm really happy with the way this turned out. I was hoping it looked like it came from the factory with the boat, and I think I accomplished that goal.

That looks freaking awesome, great work!! What material did you use for the cabinet?

It's 12" deep and it's made out of 3/4" king starboard with a Corian countertop. It was pricey, but I'm really pleased with the quality of the work. It was made by Boat Outfitters in Florida, which is the OEM for a lot of boat manufacturers.

I am impressed at just how OEM it looks! Very nice indeed.
