We got us a new to us Tritoon

#1 Post by 410MAN » Tue Feb 19, 2019 10:50 am

We been wanting a larger toon to hold our recently enlarged family ( added another to our group granddaughter) . I found a 2016 Avalon 2385 QF TriToon with yamaha 150 from a local couple that lives on private lake 20 miles from our house.
boat and motor have 38 hours on it. Only way I could tell it was used was the small water marks on the toon sides, it was kept in boat house for 2 years. It has a troll motor on a quick release mount and with a remote control that you can set in bac seat a drive the troll motor. and a gas grill. Also upgrade music system. Had it one time when weather got up to 55 and not much wind. We really like it. thats all for now.

Congrats, sounds like a sweet ride.
I am the guy at the boat ramp that gives you dirty looks when you are a complete idiot and too stupid to know it.

Congratulations as well.
We found a similar one, a 2015 South Bay 522 (24.5’ tritoon) with a yamaha F150 with only 39 hours on it. It had been stored under dry-shed/cover at a local marina on it’s own trailer. The previous owners were an older couple (although at 71 that is not as old as I once considered it). They apparently used it very little and then submitted it back to their selling dealer for consignment/resale.
They ordered (or the dealer insisted upon) a complete reservice of the Yamaha to include oil/filter, lower unit service, and new impeller. The boat shows almost no evidence of use except for a small “ding” on the front corners where the dock was apparently kissed a bit too firmly. It’s purely cosmetic and I plan to repair that with a new aluminum casting on each corner.
Anyway, it’s a fine third boat for us and it came with all sorts of unused pull-toys, life preservers, anchors, rail-mounted BBQ grill, etc. We’re glad to have found it and also to have found this discussion forum with such helpful and experienced participants.

Congrats on the new boat. It sounds like it's a great find.

I will tell you though, that if you got up to 55 MPH on a 23' Tritoon with a Yamaha 150, you either have the world's most powerful 150, or you have a speedometer that is off by 15 or 20 MPH! Most boats that size/HP combination will run 35-40 mph max.

Steve 1313,
In my original post I was referring to temperature outside (55) not speed, I got it in February , its still cool here in East Texas, We had to take it out for first time. Speed is 32-35 with 2 people and 25 gallon fuel. Sorry for not describe it more .
It has a 4 blade stainless prop, I not sure of size or pitch, It is good for pull tubers my grand kids are only 4-8 yrs old so not power needed to gwet them around. I would like to get few more MPH guess I need check on different props.
