Bimini top

Kind of a silly question. My original top is beige in color and I'm thinking of ordering black to match the fencing of the toon. Just wondering if the black makes the furniture hotter than a lighter color would? I know, silly question but my girlfriend and I were talking about it. Just looking for opinions TIA.

My bimini is black and although we don't use it often, I've never felt the black top has any bearing on the temperature of the seating or floor. I'm sure the top itself probably has a higher surface temp than a lighter colored one, but unless you're laying on the top of the bimini I don't think it makes any difference. There's enough distance between the bimini and the surface areas of the boat to mitigate any possible radiated heat, too.

Yes, a black top will absorb heat and dissipate the heat below....but as mentioned above, most toon biminis are high up enough where you don't feel it.
My old boat, a non toon with a black T top, on a hot day you could feel the heat if you were just sitting still. However I have never felt it under my tritoon with a black top.
And if you are moving you would never feel it.

I have black and it is not a problem. Years ago, I was told that black will not promote mildew growth but that could be an old wives tale. I do know that it doesn't show if the mildew exists.

Black would be easier on the eyes by cutting glare and giving better shade.

My '96 still has its original bimini (I think). It's color on top, white underneath...thick & strong.
A year ago I bought a boot for it from PS and the material is nice but I wouldn't expect it to hold up like the original. I assume a new bimini would be made from this same material.

Does anyone make them like this anymore (double layer)?
