How do I get this stupid usb/ aux cover to stay on??

#1 Post by waths4523 » Mon Jun 03, 2019 7:21 am

So just took delivery of a new Sylvan 820 Cruise on Friday and so far I'm loving it. I've only owned 20+ year old boats before this one so it has been quite the change. The only thing that is annoying, is how the usb/ aux interface cover (one on the dash that replaces a cigarette outlet) is constantly coming off. Even just sitting at my house, it will pop off every five seconds. It's not a huge deal as it wouldn't take but $10 and 10 minutes to replace with an aftermarket interface, but I figured I'd see if anyone has a trick to it. Also, just found this forum yesterday and glad to be here!

got a picture of it? many of those are just a friction fit cover. And welcome to the forum!

I know with many of those types of adapters if it's tightened down too much the cover doesn't stay on right. If you can get to the nut behind the adapter you may be able to loosen it just a little bit to get the cover to stay.

Yup, that's all it needed! Thanks for your help!

I’m doing this next time I’m on the boat as this was bugging me too.
Simple fix, no money = win win.
Used to be a 2013 Sylvan Mirage Cruise 8520 LE powered by a Merc 50 Bigfoot.
Now we have a 2019 Sylvan Mirage 8522 DLZ LE powered by a Yamaha VF150..
2010 F-150 4.6L to haul it around.
You'll find us enjoying life on the Wabigoon.
