Finally got my motor running, but....

So after redoing my whole fuel system and then some (new lines, rebuild fuel pump, rebuild carbs, replaced fuel filter twice, replaced the spark plugs, replaced impeller, changed lower end oil) I got my Mercury 60hp 2 stroke running. I am so happy that I could get it running, I thought I was never gonna to see it run. So now that it is running I noticed two things and I'm not sure if it's a big deal or what.

When the boat is running (muffs on) I have water coming out of these two locations:
There is a hole right above the water intake that faces down:

and water comes out where the transmission rod is (I think that's what it is)(don't mind the oil you see, it's from me trying to attach the hose to the bottom of the oil reservoir) :

now since these two locations are underwater when the boat is in the water I wouldn't think it's too big of a deal however I wanted some opinions.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

As a non-expert, that looks normal to me. Given the hose water pressure, it looks like the extra is just filling up the internal hollow spot above the gearcase and spilling out. I'll bet if you ran it in a tank just deep enough to suck water it wouldn't do that.

I do have a barrel that I am going to put the motor in so I can put it in gear. Since all those points are below the water line I was thinking there wouldn't be an issue either. I'm just trying to be careful, last thing I want is to ruin the motor, I just got it running :)

I'm going to pressure test the lower unit to see if I have some leaks. wouldn't surprise me if I did. I have learned a lot so far and glad I have, makes me more confident that I can fix what's wrong.

It’d probably suck air and overheat.

Below the waterline it’d shove a portion of cooling water out the leaking areas and reduce engine cooling commensurately. I’d reseal those areas.
