Double deck pontoon

#1 Post by JackL » Tue Nov 05, 2019 1:15 pm

Hello everybody,
New to this site. Great info here! Need advise or suggestions. I'm looking to purchase a tritoon this winter, moving from bow rider. Debating on getting a model with an upper deck. If i go that route I'm getting a Tahoe or Avalon, If I don't get the upper deck I'M going with Bennington. My main concern is pulling wake board and tubes with the Upper Deck Model and maneuverability. Both are going to have 200 HP on them. Does anyone have upper deck models and how are they with towing?
thanks
Jack

Jack,

I have zero experience with double deckers, but wanted to say Welcome!

No clue but I don't reckon they'd offer tow bars on the double decks if they couldn't do it decent.
Only thing I would say is don't limit yourself to 200hp but instead go with whatever the max rating is on the boat since I imagine you're going to be at a 25 footer at least?
That double decker is a boat that can be pushing 7000lbs or better fully loaded.

Welcome to the group, Jack.

I've only known one guy with a double-decker. We live on the intracoastal, so breeze and current all the time. He said that the upper deck was a bit like a sail in strong breezes. I imagine like a double bimini would be. I have a (full) double bimini and once in a while it catches enough breeze to notice. Not dangerous at all.
