Power tilt n trim

#1 Post by Gonefishing » Thu Nov 21, 2019 9:17 pm

Have a 2013 125 Yamaha the tilt/trim was working but would work slow. Then just stopped working all together. Any suggestions on what it could be?

I have a Yamaha 75 four stroke and a couple of years back the trim started giving me trouble.. worked one time, then didn't work the next... in my case it turned out to be the trim motor going bad.. mechanic took it off and sent to an electric motor shop where they rebuilt it ( rebuilding was about half the price of buying a new trim motor ).. If my memory serves me correctly, it ran me around 295.00

I have a 2012 90 Yamaha 4 stroke.. (go to youtube several videos to show you). The trim motor was very easy to trouble shoot and very easy to change. One thing when changing the motor, tape another piece of wire to the existing trim motor wire and pull the wire though. When installing the new motor (an aftermarket one on Amazon at 1/4 the price of a Yamaha trim motor) then you pull the new trim motor wire though.. took 30-45 minutes very easy.

Amazon is where I got mine:
