Trailer Axle load Capacity?

What load capacity ratings should the axles have for a 22' tri-toon (2000lbs) on a dual axle trailer?
Mine are 2K each and what would be the benefit upgrading to 3.5K each? I'm redoing all my bearings and have some damage on two spindles which need to be cut off and replaced. May just get two new complete axles.

Looked up the tritoon....
Basic hull weight 1900lbs
Add outboard, 150hp, 450lbs or thereabout
28 gallons fuel, 170lbs
Assorted gear you may carry when trailering, 300lbs being generous
Total = 2820lbs

That leaves ~1200lbs for the trailer to hit max package weight on the 2000lb axles. If it's a painted steel trailer it probably isn't near that weight.

Take a look at your tire ratings and max load of the trailer. I'd guess your max load is probably 3000lb and it has load range B or C bias ply tires.
If so, going to bigger axles would give you maybe more peace of mind but would not be totally necessary.
If you do go to a 3500lb axle you'd need hubs as well since the inner bearing will be bigger, and would have to be sure the bolt pattern matched your wheels.

My 22ft tritoon and my previous 20ft pontoon both came with Yacht Club galvanized trailers with 3500lb axles. The tritoon definitely needs the capacity as its hull weight is about 700lbs more than yours.

do you want add brakes? Light weight ones you can't, also figure a different axle with bigger bearings may need new wheels

Nah, it wouldn't be noticeable. What might be is if you currently run bias ply tires and went to radials if you use your trailer a lot at highway speeds.
