This morning I stumbled across a primer bulb I took off a used jetski I bought in February. They don't come from the factory with primers, the tank is higher than the carbs so it seemed totally useless.
I could blow easily through either end.
Other than not functioning it looks brand new, feels stiff & "crunchy" like the new bulbs.
I'm developing a real bad attitude towards these. I think China and/or the EPA has ruined a simple device just like they have done with gas cans.

The EPA could screw up a brass doorknob; then China would sell you a pirated copy that wouldn’t work!

Here's what's inside my dysfunctional Attwood primer bulb.
Both valves were stuck open by a thin film of fuel varnish.
Alcohol or acetone wouldn't remove that varnish. I had to take it all apart & scrape it off with the stick of a wooden Q-tip or my fingernail.
All plastic parts appear to be nylon or polypropylene. Not hurt by the solvents I tried.
Once spotless and reassembled it worked properly.

You have a lot more patience than I do!! I would have never even thought about doing that with a $20 part!guy48065 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:30 amHere's what's inside my dysfunctional Attwood primer bulb.

Re: Is there a "BEST" fuel hose & bulb?
I've ordered an OEM replacement (BRP) hose assembly and I'm waiting to get it. Best price I could find online was $62. That's enough motivation for me to take the failed one apart to see why it quit.
I'm tempted to take apart the name-brand bulb to see if it's REALLY any better made to justify the high price tag.
