Wake around motor?

#1 Post by Bearded Clam » Tue May 26, 2020 8:18 pm

I have a big wake around the motor on my pontoon not sure if this is normal, looks like two jets on both sides of motor almost motor height?

Does it have a center fuel pod under the deck? If so I'd say it's pretty normal at least in my experience.

Mine throws two horisontal columns as the water is directed through the narrow areas between the motor pod and the two pontoons. Running at speed, my stern is low and that water has to go somewhere! If I had to guess, I would say that they are about 1/2 or 2/3 the height of the motor.

I shot this video for the sunset, but you can see the water columns shooting out.

Normal. Most manufacturer have some sort of deflector to control some of the spray. My 3rd tune from fire and Marine does not, so I will try coming up with something. So less water hits the outboard, not that it probably matters.

I’m considering adding Lifting Strakes to my fuel pod behind my center toon.
